Pat Riley entered the NBA in the mid-1960s as a guard out of Kentucky, long before the coaching career that would define his legacy with the Lakers and beyond. Regional and food-issue basketball cards from this era are scarce and often survived in rough shape, which makes well-preserved examples uncommon.
