Lou Gehrig anchored the Yankees through the 1920s and 1930s, first baseman on some of the greatest teams the game has produced, until his career was cut short by the illness that now bears his name. Upper Deck's 1994 All-Time Heroes set was a tribute release honoring past greats, and Gehrig's card number 4 nods to the number the Yankees retired in his honor.
